HIGHLAND SPIRITUAL CINEMA

Spiritual cinema is a film genre that explores spiritual beliefs and understandings.

Since May 2007 members of Highland Spiritual Cinema have met regularly in Inverness to combine their appreciation of film as a medium that both entertains and informs, with the opportunity to share their spiritual perspectives with others in post-film discussion.

It is because the films we screen are inspirational and uplifting, films that reveal something of the human heart's potential for compassion and forgiveness - for the love of humankind - that we lay claim to the word 'spiritual'.  It also feels important for us to add that, as an organisation, we are not allied to any particular faith tradition, religious or spiritualist church.

The films we show are not always widely available in the UK, with some the product of small independent studios anxious to share something of the universal understanding of spirituality as inspiring love and compassion in the world.  The films are often documentaries, or recorded talks by contemporary spiritual visionaries and, occasionally, feature films that exceptionally capture something of spiritual merit.

From the breadth and depth of their viewing experience, members take for themselves whatever nourishes their sense of who they are, to help realise their highest human potential.

Highland Spiritual Cinema is a non-commercial organisation and is managed by a small group of volunteers drawn from the membership.  Members pay an annual subscription to help offset the cost of acquiring films and the hire of projection equipment, venue and screening licence.   For information about how to support Highland Spiritual Cinema through membership, please go to the MEMBERSHIP page.
